Philippines – Sinulog Festival

With a history of colonisation by Spain and the United States, the Philippines is a heavily Roman Catholic nation and has a unique blend of cultures and traditions.

On Cebu Island, bright colours and ritual dances are on display at the popular Sinulog festival, a celebration of the child Jesus, patron of Cebu City.

South Korea – Buddhist Lantern Parade, Seoul

Koreans carry lanterns in a range of colours to celebrate the birthday of Buddha, the “awakened one.” No one knows the exact date of Buddha’s birth, but tradition says it was some 2,500 years ago.

Cambodia- Khmer Dance Troupe

Dancers in traditional Khmer dress prepare to perform at the Angkor temple complex. Khmer culture almost vanished during the bloody reign of the Khmer Rouge communists in the 1970s, but Cambodians today are reclaiming their inheritance.

China – Hong Kong Cityscape

Known as Asia’s Manhattan, Hong Kong is a rapidly growing centre economic hub and is home to more skyscrapers than any other city on Earth.
